BYDGOSZCZ, KRAKÓW (3 July 2025) – CANPACK S.A., part of the CANPACK Group, a global manufacturer of aluminium beverage cans and lids and one of the largest employers in the region, has launched the expansion of its production plant in Bydgoszcz.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by representatives of CANPACK management, local government officials, the Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the U.S. Embassy in Poland, as well as business and institutional partners. The project is supported by the Pomeranian Special Economic Zone, and the expansion work will be carried out by ALSTAL Grupa Budowlana, acting as the general contractor in charge of the construction phase.
“CANPACK’s latest investment project, valued at approximately PLN 440 million, reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to the development of Poland’s packaging sector and is focused on meeting the growing demand from its European customers. The project will increase CANPACK’s current production capacity of aluminium beverage cans in the region by more than one billion cans annually, with further growth potential in the future,” said Marian Miskov, Member of the Management Board of CANPACK S.A. and Regional Director for Poland. “The planned project will involve the expansion of the plant’s infrastructure with a new production hall, the acquisition of state-of-the-art machinery and equipment, along with the upgrade of the existing production lines. Production operations are expected to start in the second quarter of 2026,” he added.
The expanded production plant is expected to create over 100 new jobs for highly skilled professionals in the region. CANPACK’s Bydgoszcz factory employs more than 470 people at this time.
“The choice of Bydgoszcz as the site for CANPACK’s new project aligns with the Group’s long-term strategy designed to deliver the highest-quality packaging products to meet the growing needs of customers in Poland and across Europe. The expansion and installation of advanced technologies at the Bydgoszcz plant will not only markedly strengthen the plant’s can production capabilities but also allow the company to introduce a broader range of innovative aluminium packaging solutions,” stated Małgorzata Podrecka, Vice President of CANPACK S.A. “We have been present in Bydgoszcz for nearly 25 years. We are glad that this new project will contribute to the region’s economic development and ultimately create new jobs,” she added.
One of the guests at the event was Rafał Bruski, Mayor of Bydgoszcz, who in his speech emphasised: “This project, alongside a number of rankings, further demonstrates that our city offers excellent conditions for investors. I am particularly glad that the project is being undertaken by a company that has been present in Bydgoszcz for 25 years. Such trust is something one earns through consistent work. We implement and support all projects that strengthen our economic potential. We have prepared a local spatial development plan for this part of the city, enabling sustainable growth. Soon, we will be reconstructing important streets, including Podmiejska, Srebrna, and Ołowiana. We have reached an agreement with the Polish State Railways for the construction of new viaducts. In cooperation with our partners from neighbouring municipalities, we are working to eliminate other barriers that hinder transport across the Bydgoszcz Metropolitan Area because we know we are already creating a single labour market. We have also previously implemented a number of changes in education that allow us to train highly qualified personnel. This is why I am confident that the expansion of Canpack in a city like Bydgoszcz is destined for success, and I wish the investor all the best.”
The CANPACK factory expansion project will be led by ALSTAL Grupa Budowlana, one of Poland’s largest construction companies, renowned for its extensive experience in industrial construction. The project will also involve the reconstruction of the Kobaltowa Street, including the construction of car parks, pavements and a cycle path.
“Constructing the production and warehouse hall for CANPACK is a project that fits perfectly with our expertise in the industrial construction sector. As the General Contractor, we will build a facility with a volume exceeding 215,000 cubic meters and a floor area of nearly 19,000 square meters. This project holds special significance for us, as it is being developed in Bydgoszcz, the city where ALSTAL’s headquarters are located. We thank CANPACK for their trust – we will do our best to complete this project on time, safely and to the highest standards,” said Jarosław Szczupak, President of ALSTAL Grupa Budowlana.
