Krakow, Poland (October 1, 2019) – CANPACK India, a beverage can manufacturer and part of the CANPACK Group, has recently been acknowledged for its Community Social Responsibility initiatives and its new facility in Nuh has been certified by the India Green Building Council.

The company’s CSR intervention in water management was recognized as the “Noteworthy Project” in the 13th CII-National Awards for Excellence in Water Management 2019 competition organized by CII- Triveni Water Institute. CANPACK India’s program won the Beyond the Fence Category for its impressive work undertaken with regards to empowering rural communities and augmenting natural resources.

Water security has been always a top priority for CANPACK in India. While exploring the ways and means to achieve this goal, we’ve partnered with Kedia Rainwater Harvesting who introduced the Kedia Farm Pattern – an ecofriendly, cost effective method for water conservation, to us.” – said Harsh Vardhan Jajoo, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer at CANPACK India. “CANPACK harnessed this method to rewrite the fortune of several villages which were constantly at the mercy of the monsoon. Now, these villages are prepared not only to face monsoons but also have enough water to secure their needs throughout the year.”

The certificate was handed to CANPACK by the General Secretary of Jal Shakti Department of Government of India along with the president of CII- Triveni Water Institute at an award ceremony which took place during the 5th Water Innovation Summit on the 18th and 19th of September 2019 at The LaLit, New Delhi, India.

In addition, in September 2019, CANPACK India’s facility in Nuh (Haryana) was certified Platinum Status by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), which is the highest certifying body for green construction in the country. For a building to be classified as ecological it must be constructed according to specific sustainable criteria and solutions that reduce its environmental impact. The IGBC has acknowledged CANPACK’s factory in Nuh for its reduced water consumption, optimized power efficiency, saving of natural resources, low waste-generation and provision of a healthier workplace compared to conventional buildings.

In India, CANPACK’s CSR initiatives are focused on the integration of communities, education, as well as water and food waste management. The company has recently obtained ISO 26 000 certification, too.
