Unlike aluminium scrap produced from our can production processes, not all waste is as easy and straightforward to recycle. Filter cake, the deposit that forms, over time, on the surface of the filters we use to keep machinery and the air clean is one such example.
However, instead of giving up on finding a recycling solution to this industrial waste, through research and cooperation, our team in CANPACK Morocco found that we could send this waste to the cement industry where it can be used as an important ingredient in their production process. Indeed, the properties of the filter cake help improve the performance of conventional building materials.
This solution is not only a great way of dealing with filter cake, but it also means that the cement industry is less reliant on using raw materials. Finally, it is also a more cost-effective solution. A clear win-win.
