CANPACK Recognised with Prestigious ‘White CSR Leaf’ Award

Awards & Recognitions    |   July 5, 2021

Krakow, Poland (July 5, 2021) – The CANPACK Group, one of the world’s largest producers of sustainable packaging, is proud to announce that it was awarded a ‘White CSR Leaf’ by POLITYKA weekly, an award that had been assessed in cooperation with Deloitte and the Responsible Business Forum. In addition to receiving this accolade, CANPACK was also recognised as a ‘best practice’ organisation when it came to reducing its carbon footprint.

The prestigious ‘White CSR Leaf’ accolade from POLITYKA weekly is awarded to companies that have been the most socially engaged over the last ten years. This year’s jubilee edition focused on company projects that reduced a business’s impact on the natural environment and climate, as well as initiatives to counter the economic and social effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. Every year, the ranking is also accompanied by a review of initiatives supporting the implementation of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Out of over 100 initiatives supporting sustainable development, the most up-to-date practices that brought measurable and significant effects were recognised.

“We are delighted to have been honoured with the ‘White CSR Leaf’, especially as it is the first time we have appeared in this ranking. We are incredibly proud to receive this award as it formally and independently recognises the commitment so many of our staff, especially our ‘sustainability champions’, have made to society and their local communities. At CANPACK we are striving to constantly improve our operations and adjust the processes in the company to ensure that our impact on the environment is minimized,” said Małgorzata Podrecka, Group Legal & PR Officer.

In 2019, the CANPACK Group introduced a sustainable development policy, aligning its business strategy to the global challenges we are facing today. The company’s approach is based on its three key sustainability pillars – Care, Sustain and Recycle – which, in turn, reflect the expectations of society and the needs of the natural world.

In addition to supporting the circular economy in 2020, CANPACK implemented stretching environmental targets whereby all its production facilities are now committed to reducing the consumption of electricity, heat and water, reducing the amount of waste produced and further improving recycling rates.

Finally, CANPACK has also invested in renewable energy. As a result, all of CANPACK’s production facilities and offices in Poland, the UK, Netherlands and Slovakia (including aluminum can, metal packaging, crown closure and glass packaging plants) are powered by 100% renewable electricity.
